Youngest ever Winner of Club Triples!

A happy 11 year old junior member of Seal Petanque Club can claim the honour of being the youngest winner ever of the Snelling Cup, the annual Club Triples competition.  George Martin, seen here with team members, Steve Tait (his uncle) and Jamie Finley, started playing Petanque just a few months ago and this was his first competition.  Well done, George!

The Snelling Cup has been played every year since 1977.  Steve Tait was on the winning team when he was 15, so George has eclipsed this achievement by quite a margin.

George has a pedigree background in Petanque as he has two granddads in the game.  Dave Martin was Seal Chairman from 2007 to 2013 and Howard Sandom, his step-granddad, is the current Club Chairman.

Steve Tait did the double on Sunday, 12th October by also winning the annual Club singles trophy in a tense final against Peter Lake, the Club’s Secretary.
